When is the last time you got out to explore Mother Nature’s beauty?

I recently returned from a rejuvenating trip to several national parks in southern Utah and Arizona. In four days, I hiked and explored Zion National Park, Lower Antelope Canyon, the northern rim of the Grand Canyon and Bryce National Park. All of them were beautiful and awe-inspiring, yet each was unique. It was my first time exploring the beautiful landscape of plateaus and canyons, and it definitely will not be my last.

The trip came at a perfect time for me. Like most people, I was long overdue for a break from the stresses of everyday life. Being outdoors is so beneficial for our physical and mental health, however, many of us spend a majority of our time indoors.

Being outdoors is beneficial in a number of ways. First and foremost, the air quality is usually much better than what we breathe indoors. Sunlight boosts our levels of vitamin D which is one of the most common vitamin deficiencies today. Increasing vitamin D levels can improve your overall mood and combat seasonal affective disorder that usually starts to strike in Fall and Winter.

Getting into nature can also boost our production of a type of white blood cell that fights infections and cancerous cells. (1). Getting outdoors to explore nature also has been shown to reduce blood pressure, stress, (2) improve overall feelings of well-being and reduce anxiety. (3)

If those reasons are not enough to convince you, the views in nature are much better than the views we have sitting in an office or on a couch. Granted, not every view in nature is as amazing as the one of the Grand Canyon.

This leads me to the special announcement of this company’s partnership with Highpointe Travelwear, a new outdoor apparel company with a passion for preserving the environment and the drive to empower people to travel more. I am very excited to plan future outdoor retreats focused on rejuvenating clients as a whole. Together, we plan to offer online webinars and special coaching programs to clients who may not have the best access to health and wellness coaching.
